The Best Restaurant In Paris – Le Petit Bleu

December 30, 2014

If you’re anything like me, you know that making decisions on where to eat when travelling can be a stressful ordeal; is it good value? Good food? Worth the trip out there? How do I choose between this restaurant and that one? And the questions go on and on, but thankfully I found one hidden gem in the city. If you’re looking for the best restaurant in Paris that offers great quality food at reasonable prices (for Paris, at least), then you need to eat at Moroccan restaurant Le Petit Bleu.

Le Petit Bleu is a Mediterranean restaurant tucked away on Rue Muller, right by Sacre Coeur. The interior is very small, only fitting about 30-40 people all tucked right beside each other. Though the restaurant is quite cramped – I literally could not leave my seat unless the table was moved back – the food more than makes up for it.

We read online that the restaurant is often extremely busy and can be difficult to get a table. Luckily we arrived later on in the evening and only had to wait 10 minutes or so before we sat down and stuffed our faces.

I don’t think the wait staff are entirely accustomed to serving tourists (the word is slowly seeping out on how great the food is here, so it’s still mainly locals that go), so their English wasn’t the greatest. Perhaps because of this or the fact that they were so busy and there was only one waiter, it was clear that they weren’t looking to impress their customers with any form of niceties.

Besides the small space and lack of English, the main reason you’ll want to come here is the food – not only are the couscous dishes here absolutely to die for, but the prices are all reasonable compared to other restaurants throughout Paris. On top of that, the portions are quite large. Some of the dishes can be shared by two people if you’re looking for a lighter meal. The couscous dishes range from 8 – 15€ and all looked incredible.

Le Petit Bleu offers true Mediterranean home cooking that won’t disappoint your taste buds or your wallet!
