The Envoy, located inside The Pottinger Hong Kong, has just launched a new Colonial Inspired Sunday brunch. For those who have no clue what “Colonial Inspired” means, it’s basically various Indian spices infused with traditional British dishes. If you’re looking for something more “brunch-y”, The Envoy also serves up a selection of traditional menu options, like your classic eggs benedict. The quality of food at The Envoy won’t disappoint, but it’ll certainly cost you a pretty penny.
If you’ve ever gone to Coyotes (one of my favourite Mexican restaurants in Hong Kong) during the week for their buffet lunch, and thought to yourself, ‘I really wish they offered this on the weekend too’, then you’re in luck. Coyotes has just launched a Sunday all you can eat and drink brunch that is great value and perfect for those looking to switch up their regular weekend eggs benedict routine.
Originating in Bangkok, Issaya Siamese Club Hong Kong focuses on modern Thai dishes with authentic ingredients. While just about any type of cuisine has been modernized by a handful of restaurants, I was impressed with Issaya’s quality of food and plating. Issaya Siamese Club Hong Kong recently launched a semi-buffet weekend brunch filled with modern Thai nibbles, live-cooking stations, individual main courses, and free-flow G.H Mumm Champagne that is definitely worth checking out.
Giando is likely familiar to most of us living in Hong Kong from their former location in Wan Chai in Fenwick Pier. Relocating to the increasingly popular Star Street location, the modern Italian restaurant remains devoted to sourcing and serving only the finest ingredients. While their a la carte options are drool-worthy, what you should really come to Giando for is the weekend brunch. This is one of the few semi-buffet brunches in Hong Kong where the quality, freshness, and taste of the dishes at the buffet (and, of course, the mains) were flawless. For only HKD$338 (includes buffet + main + dessert), heading to Giando for brunch is a must-try.
If you’re feeling bored of the typical western brunches around Hong Kong, look no further than Jinjuu’s modern-Korean weekend brunch to liven things up. With a large semi-buffet of delicious Korean treats like kimbap and their to-die-for Korean Fried Chicken, there’s something for Korean food-lovers as well as those who are looking for more Western-infused dishes. Enjoy the semi-buffet only, or, if you’re feeling quite ravenous and thirsty, you can opt to add on a main course and a dessert platter, and/or Jinjuu’s free-flow package (you’ll be in LKF, after all..). Jinjuu offers a good value brunch with an inviting and open atmosphere, and a good variety of modern-Korean fare.
I’ll just come right out and say it: lately I’ve been obsessed with 208 Duecento Otto. Having recently popped by for dinner to try their new food and drinks menu, I couldn’t resist bringing a friend who was in town to 208 for brunch the following weekend. 208 has customers returning regularly in a city where a new restaurant pops up practically every day, so you know they’re doing something right. Aside from their stellar dinner and weekday lunch offerings, weekend brunch at 208 Duecento Otto is a delicious way to spend a lazy Saturday or Sunday.
Weekends are made for brunch and The Optimist is made for weekends. If lots of delicious Spanish food (think cheese, cured meats, grilled seafood, broken eggs, and much more) sounds like your kind of meal, then The Optimist certainly won’t disappoint. The fresh and vibrant atmosphere will pull you in right away and the ample amounts of food will undoubtedly leave you satisfied.
Many brunches in Hong Kong offer great buffet and semi-buffet options with the option of free-flowing drinks and a whole lot of afternoon fun. If you’re wanting to steer clear of the brunch buffet scene (’cause we all need to exercise some self control every once in awhile), there are tonnes of other options throughout the city that offer a fantastic a la carte brunch menu. My most recent find (though this restaurant has been serving up a bomb brunch for awhile now) is Aberdeen Street Social brunch. Basically, if you haven’t been, you need to go. Like, right now. Go. Now.
The well-known and well-established steakhouse originating in London, Gaucho, is slowly making its international mark with Hong Kong as one of its first ventures (along with Dubai and Buenos Aires). Since Hong Kong is a haven for brunch-lovers, Gaucho has just launched a mouth-watering “Electro Brunch” (including a DJ spinning some great tunes while you eat delicious Argentinian steak and seafood) that will not disappoint.
Urban Park has recently launched a new semi-buffet lunch at both their TST and Central locations, and since I can’t resist a good weekend brunch (can anyone?!), I made my way to their Central branch to eat my way into a Saturday afternoon food coma. Urban Park’s weekend brunch consists of an appetizer buffet bar, seafood soup of the day, choice of main, and dessert with coffee or tea for only HK$299. If you’re in the mood to make your brunch boozy, Urban Park also offers three free-flow drink packages.
