In my last blog post, I talked about the Top 10 Touristy Things To Do In London, but if you’re looking for things to do where you won’t be completely surrounded by tourists then you should check this list out. There’s so much more to the city than taking a ride on the London Eye or getting your photo taken in front of Big Ben. Try living like a local Londoner (sort of) for a day or two by checking some of these things off your anti-tourist to do list!
There are lots of things to do in London, but it might be a bit overwhelming to figure out where to go and what to see first, especially if you don’t have much time. From shopping to historical buildings and towers, to the various other stereotypes surrounding British culture, this list will give you the top touristy things you should check out while you’re in the city.
Regardless of what part of the world you’re from, it’s fairly safe to assume that you know what Buckingham Palace is. It’s also highly likely that if you ever find or have found yourself in London, you made sure going to see the glorified Palace was ticked off your tourist to-see list. Only problem? The probable confusion and disappointment you felt after initially laying eyes on this so called Palace as you asked, to no one in particular, “this isn’t actually Buckingham Palace, is it?”
There are many different markets in London to explore that offer a variety of clothing, accessories, artwork, and delicious food! When I was in London, I was able to visit four different markets; Spitalfields Market, Camden Market, Camden Lock, and Borough Market. Each of these markets has its own distinct feel and caters to a certain crowd. Below you’ll find a quick description of each market, where they’re located, and what they offer, along with some photographs of each.
