Koh Lanta

Lazy Days On Koh Lanta, Thailand

April 16, 2015

After you’ve done a 4 Island Tour on Koh Lanta and have spent a bizarre evening at the night market, you should take some time to explore the island and just relax. Koh Lanta has various beaches along its west side that are all unique from each other and worth at least a half-day trip. If you’re not in the mood to bask in the sun for the day, you can travel back up to the north of the island where the ferry pier is and have lunch or dinner at one of the local restaurants on the water. Just be sure you head to Long Beach to catch some killer views of the sunset before you leave the island!

Let’s Go To The Beach, Beach!

Like I mentioned, there are multiple beach options to suit anyone’s need in Koh Lanta. Starting with Long Beach (though technically the first beach would be Klong Dao Beach), which is the most populated. If you work your way down the island you’ll find that the further south you go, the less busy the beaches will be. I highly recommend not spending your whole time on Long Beach – rent a motorbike (you daredevil, you) or hire a tuk tuk to take you beach hopping. You’ll find big beaches, little beaches, secluded beaches, hard-to-get-to-but-oh-so-worth-it beaches, rocky beaches, and much more!

Dine On Top Of The Water

Whether you go for lunch or for dinner, you can’t go wrong with picking a restaurant along the water by the Saladan Pier. Along with a delicious (hopefully!) meal, you’ll also have a perfect view of the peaceful water and the other side of Koh Lanta. These restaurants specialize in seafood, but I actually didn’t end up ordering any seafood when we went so I can’t comment on the quality. Regardless, eating at a restaurant on stilts above the water should be on your Koh Lanta to-do list!

Sunsets For Days

Who doesn’t love a good sunset? In Koh Lanta you’ll find sunsets aplenty! The most breathtaking one I saw was on Long Beach. You can eat at one of the many restaurants for dinner or you can grab a beer at a local store and plant your butt in the sand while you slowly watch the sun set. Totally worth the trip to Long Beach if you’re staying further away on the island.
