I had heard about Chicha for quite some time, so of course, in true Hong Kong style, the hype surrounding the restaurant’s Peruvian fare prevailed and I finally made a reservation. Tucked away on Peel Street in Central, this restaurant has an open-concept interior (think picnic-esque tables in two rows; you just might be double-dating with another couple beside you) that is dark yet inviting. While I was impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant and felt the service was good, unfortunately I wasn’t “wowed” by the food and I left Chicha with a full, but unsatisfied stomach.
If you’re tired of the normal set lunches around Hong Kong and are looking for a bit of a fancier spot to check out during the weekday, you should head over to the Weekday Lunch Bazaar at Lily & Bloom. Located in the heart of Central, the inviting and trendy atmosphere of Bloom is a great way to spend an hour or so away from the office to fuel up on a wide range of food options. This lunch bazaar is only $168 and includes their soup of the day, salad bar, seafood bar, carving station, and a mac ‘n cheese station, plus coffee and dessert to finish off your hearty meal.
If you live in Hong Kong, or have been there on business or pleasure, you probably know two things: 1) buying drinks at a bar is damn expensive and 2) happy hour is a pretty big deal. Clearly, there is a correlation between the two.. So, while most people are happy with 2 for 1 drinks on selected drinks, I’m always out looking for just how far my hard earned HK dollars will take me.
