If you’re planning a trip to Amsterdam, let me be the first to warn you about how damn expensive this city is. I’ll try to stop myself from going on a rant about how extortionate everything was in this overrated city, but I’m cheap and I love to complain, so bear with me. Do you enjoy a coffee in the morning? Me too. What I didn’t enjoy was paying over €5.00 for a grande cappuccino at Starbucks. I spent four nights in Amsterdam this past summer and it was probably the four most expensive days out of my entire three week Europe trip. I might be slightly exaggerating here, but you get the point. Searching for accommodation in Amsterdam proved to be quite the task; it was difficult to find a decent hotel for less than €50 a night, even outside of the city center. After days of searching for a good deal online, we bit the bullet and booked a room at Hotel Floris for €66 a night.
