I’ve been wanting to fill my flat with a variety of framed prints. Specifically, ones that depict the beauty of my current home: Hong Kong. I recently learned about KAKAHUETTE, a newly launched online shop that sells limited edition art prints from around the world. One of my favourite things about KAKAHUETTE is that they feature local emerging talent from a few different cities like Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, and more. If you’re looking to add a touch of print art to a room, I’d recommend checking out KAKAHUETTE.
The Story Behind KAKAHUETTE
Richard and Steven, the founders of KAKAHUETTE, are both incredibly passionate about art photography. The name KAKAHUETTE is a phonetic translation of ‘peanut’ in French; their favourite pairing with a nice wine. Richard and Steven work to find photographers and help to promote their work through limited edition prints – when they’re gone, they’re gone for good. They truly believe in helping these artists out so they can continue to be creatives.
Customised Quality & Limited Edition Prints
I recently received the Hong Kong Taxi photo print and I am so happy with it. I was able to choose the size I wanted (Normal: 25×38 cm or Large: 30×45 cm) and whether or not I wanted it framed. The photo is printed on acid-free Luster art paper with a semi-gloss finish, which really brings the photo to life. My life is busy enough as it is, so I figured I’d save myself the hassle of having to find a frame for the print myself and had KAKAHUETTE frame it for me before delivery. This way, I can hang it up right away. The wooden frames come in black, white, and brown.
Supporting Emerging Artists
One thing I really love about KAKAHUETTE is that they support emerging artists from around the globe. On their website, you can shop by artist where you’ll get a glimpse at some of their work. You can then click on any artist and head to a dedicated page with a link to their social media platform(s), a brief bio, and the rest of their prints for sale. Although these artists are typically less well-known, their skills are impressive and you’ll find a solid range of photography styles (minimalism, cityscape, abstract, nature, and more) to suit your taste.
Upcoming pop-up
For those that want to get up close and personal with the artwork themselves, KAKAHUETTE will be putting together a pop-up exhibition starting on July 13th at 5:00 pm. The exhibition will take place at Chez Trente, 6 Chung Wo Lane in Central and will run for a month. You can find more information about this pop-up exhibition here.
